Survival is strange. Sometimes it feels like just going through the motions, numb to everything around you. Other times, it looks like burning out on unimportant tasks. Either decision has serious flaws, but it shows how we handle stress.

Peter shares a divine attitude we need to take toward life. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

We don’t have vicious dinosaurs terrorizing us, but we do have an adversary who is looking to distract anyone who isn’t locked into our main goal. As followers of Jesus Christ, we need to recognize our partnership with Jesus in seeking and saving the lost, healing the broken, feeding the poor, strengthening the church, educating the young, and living holy lives. Jesus calls this work “his food” in John 4:34

We aren’t the heroes in this mission, so we aren’t responsible for anyone’s salvation. Instead, we are the laser-focused ambassadors to the hero, ensuring that everyone gets a chance to experience God’s goodness. If you feel like you are losing your connection to the mission, ask God to help you dial in to the work that he is doing.
