I’m a massive fan of technology, and I’m reasonably skilled at predicting its direction. That is why I still own a Zune, Wii U, and a Windows Phone. I’m realizing that most of the internet is vlogging or posting short videos. It’s part of our “get entertained quick” culture. It only makes sense that The Checkpoint has its own YouTube channel.
This is my first attempt at putting The Checkpoint on video. Most assuredly, the videos will improve and become sharper over time.
As a father of a 4-year-old and a geek who loves getting distracted, I am learning about the culture of brain rot. Brain rot is any picture or video that has no nutritional value for your life and seeks to fill a void with nothingness. Brain rot aims to be cringy and random, making it the easiest type of video to create (simply type it into AI).
I realize that when you first make a YouTube account, YouTube will suggest all kinds of brain rot videos before it targets your interests. If you ever want to see what the internet is wasting everyone’s time with, create a new YouTube account and refrain from searching for anything. The default videos are bizarre and incredibly shady. The first video I received was a short clip of a man interviewing a female golfer, but the cover image showed the man putting his hand up her shirt. That is the most deceptive and predatory use of clickbait, and I will rejoice when it becomes extinct.
As the sole employee of The Checkpoint, I aim to combat the culture of lazy art, worthless eye-catching content, and zero-calorie entertainment. Life is so much better when you are filled with wisdom, insight, and God’s plan for your life.
Let’s end the brain rot and put some good content into this world.
