Challenge: There are thousands of anime series that exist. Honestly, I don’t know how a country the size of Georgia can produce so much endless content*. But my quest is simple. Can I find a topic not covered by anime. It’s worth a try.

*I know not every anime is produced in Japan

Badminton animes

Out of the gate, I wanted to know if anime has covered the most popular global sport. Lord knows they have at least five basketball anime, and that sport wasn’t even popularized in Japan. Badminton is one of those odd sports that you have to try to look cool.

Salaryman’s Club

Hanebado!

Love All Play

Conclusion: That is one point for anime and zero points for me.

Zookeeper Animes

An anime series where humans, not animals, have to take care of a zoo or an animal safari.

Those Years I Opened a Zoo

Wake Up, Girl Zoo!

Kaba Enchou no Doubutsuen Nikki

Conclusion: Anime, you’re just showing off now.

Certified Public Accountants

Can the most vivid art style take on the boring world of tax paperwork?

Servant X Service

Aggretsuko

Conclusion: These two anime should have asterisks next to their name because they barely qualify. Servant x Service is about government paperwork, and Aggretsuko is about fund management.

1800s Civil War

I am not backing down. Let’s see if anime covers an 1800s American war it has absolutely no stake in.

Kinpatsu no Jeanie

Ai no Wakakusa Monogatari

Conclusion: These are anime related to the Civil War. You are slipping.

Hip-Hop Music Careers

Anime about a scruffy hip-hop artist gaining street cred and performing.

Tonkatsu DJ Agetarou

Tokyo Tribe 2

Conclusion: I believe I get partial credit on this one. DJing is related to hip-hop. Even Reddit leaves this topic alone. Tokyo Tribes 2 has underground rap battles, but it isn’t strictly about the industry. Negative four points if you thought I was going to include The Boondocks.

Goats are the Main Character

This shouldn’t be a popular thing, but we will see.

Arashi no Yoru ni

My Little Goat

Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf

Conclusion: I should have expected this.

Anime set in California

Japan and California are pond neighbors, but do they have any California-specific anime?

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters*

Appare-Ranman!

Kaleido Star

Conclusion: These anime are set fully in California or spend most of their time there. I can’t believe Yu-Gi-Oh! made the list.

Cute Mummies

This shouldn’t be on anyone’s radar.

How to Keep a Mummy

Conclusion: (Surrenders immediately). You win!

Verdict

Anime needs to catch up on tax accounting and rap careers, but there is no shortage in other topics.
