Christ is _________
Working
If I told you that Superman lives inside the sun and keeps it working for all humanity, you would call me a weirdo or a nerd (justifiably so). In the All-Star Superman story, Superman is nearing his death after a tragic solar accident. He finds closure in his relationships and prepares for his departure. Before he leaves, Superman must stop the sun from exploding and killing the entire galaxy. He sacrifices himself by diving into the dying star. Now, legend has it that he is keeping the sun active.
Jesus died on the cross, was resurrected from the dead, and spent 40 days on Earth. But after he ascended into the Heavens, it would be safe to assume that Jesus is cashing in his retirement. Scripture says that he sits triumphantly at the right hand of the Father, but Jesus is not inactive.
Jesus assumes the role of the High Priest, which gives him a crucial role. An earthly priest was responsible for being the intermediary between the people and God. Because of the sizable glory difference, they couldn’t meet on their own, so God would work through a priest.
Now we have Jesus, who is on 24/7 active duty for humanity, presenting our case before his Father and supporting our needs. We can confidently bring our worst to Jesus, and he will bring his best to the Father.

Research: Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
