StrangeChrist is _____Humble

In the movie Doctor Strange, the mystic sorcerer of The Marvel Universe works so hard to prove he was a successful surgeon before the car accident took away the use of his hands. When The Ancient One teaches Strange the power of mystical magic he starts to regain his confidence that he can accomplish anything. His pride takes a hit when his super powers come with the reality that he can’t think of himself, but on how to save the people who need him.

Jesus’ safety and concern made him irresistibly attractive. People did not care how much money Jesus made or if his face was easy on the eyes, but they knew they wanted his attention. One of the major reasons that Jesus was so easy to talk to was because he had humility.

Humility is a fun religious word that gets thrown around a lot in church, but I think we can make it fit our daily life. Humility is often seen as a by-product of low self-esteem. You have to think very lowly of yourself to treat other people better.

The problem with low self-esteem is that people who think very lowly of themselves often can’t stop thinking about that. Sitting in your room and dwelling on how stupid you are is not humility.

The Christ Attitude tells us what Jesus knew about himself and what he chose to do with that knowledge. We need to do the same to capture this outstanding trait. We need to know that God loves us and values us. He also made us with great potential and influence.
